About the BVFD
The Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department (BVFD) was established on December 10, 1870, making it one of the oldest fire departments in Scott County and serving Scott County's oldest community. We are located on (and sometimes in) the Mississippi River adjacent to Davenport, Iowa. Our 1st due response area is 18.6 square miles of agricultural, residential, commercial and heavy industrial areas. In our industrial area we protect  2 corporate grain elevators, 2 large scale mining operations, 2 oil storage depots containing 23 million gallons of oil storage and a large salt processing and storage facility. We have  6.3 miles of Mississippi riverfront in our community which generates both commercial and recreational traffic.

The BVFD is made up of 25 dedicated volunteers that respond to EMS, Fire and Rescue calls. We are a licensed non-transporting EMS Service with the state of Iowa operating at the EMT-B level.
